Desktop (Win/Mac)

• We added a teleprompter to the Desktop Screen Recorder. Clicking the Teleprompter button on the toolbar opens a floating Teleprompter window in which you can enter or paste your script text. When you click the play button on the teleprompter, your script text will scroll at the speed you select, so you can use it to narrate your recording.
• A Tools icon was added to the Desktop Screen Recorder controls. Clicking this icon displays options for the drawing tools and zoom tool, selecting a canvas background, and using the teleprompter as you record.
• You now have the option to add a colored outline to any text overlay you add in the Video Editor.
• The Help dialog was updated to include links to helpful resources and a Request Support form.
• We removed some options from the Upload to ScreenPal menu in the Video Editor. When you upload a video, only the Account, Title, Quality, and Visibility fields are available. You can add a video Description, move the video to a channel, and add a custom link once the video has been uploaded to your hosting account.
• When you upload a video to ScreenPal Hosting from the Desktop Video Editor, the Video Details page for your uploaded video is automatically opened in your browser. Additionally, the watch link for the video is copied to your clipboard. If you would like to turn off this functionality, we also added a Open browser after publishing to ScreenPal option in Preferences that you can select or clear.
• Vertical and horizontal alignment guides are now displayed in the Video Editor when you place an overlay within the canvas. The guides are only displayed when you are dragging the overlay and are near the closest potential alignment point.
• Previously, the Desktop app displayed a profile bubble that was pink with the current user’s initials. The app now displays your profile photo from Hosting, if you have uploaded one.
• We added text to the Import button at the top of the Project Manager so it is easier to recognize.

What’s fixed:

• We fixed a bug that caused some users to be unable to export captions for their video projects.

This version includes several bug fixes to improve your ScreenPal Desktop app experience.

• We fixed an issue where the text in the Record Narration window did not wrap and had to be viewed by scrolling horizontally.
• We resolved an issue where the spacebar was not toggling playback in the Video Editor.
• We fixed a bug where clicking Cancel when adding an overlay shape did not actually cancel the addition of the overlay.

• A bug that affected the way text was pasted into new story sections when you selected the “Into more than one section” option on the Paste Text dialog.

What’s new:

• We’ve added new options for controlling the aspect ratio of your screenshot captures! Now when you are ready to capture a screenshot:

  • If you first start dragging to select your capture area, and then press and hold the shift key, you will lock in the current aspect ration that you have selected

  • If you press and hold the shift key before you start selecting your capture area, you will lock in a 1:1 square capture

• Now you can drag and drop image and video files as overlays on to your video projects in the desktop video editor.

What’s fixed:

• A bug that affected some users importing .screenpal files. We’ve fixed the issue affecting playback after unchecking the Narration and Computer Audio options.

• A bug affecting crop image or video where the crop tool was responding like the resize tool for some users

What’s new:

• Now you can rotate images in the Image Editor just like you can in the Video Editor!

What’s fixed:

This release includes bug fixes and optimizations to make your app experience better, including:

• Sound overlay titles are sometimes incorrect
• Unchecking sound effects doesn’t always remove the audio waveform
• Some users reported issues with camera recording in “Both” mode
• Customize options could not be viewed on lower-resolution devices
• Some users experienced issues with the video editor app background color turning white

What’s fixed:

• In the Storyboard editor, instead of starting from a document, you will now see the option to “Start from a PDF.” Due to changes in Google’s API permission requirements, we removed the direct Google Slides import and folder picker when publishing to Google Drive. You can still export your Google Slides as a PDF and use Start from PDF to build a presentation video. 
• When you publish your videos to Google Drive, they will now show up in a ScreenPal folder within Google Drive.
• Password protection for your hosted content is now available in all paid plans. If you are uploading videos to ScreenPal to share for free, you can share publicly or unlisted, and upgrade to add password protection to your content. Any existing videos that are password-protected will maintain that visibility setting. 
• If you are using ScreenPal for free without an account, you can now record for up to 5 minutes at a time. Once you create and log in to your free account, you can continue to record for up to 15 minutes at a time for free.
