Drag-and-drop importing into your Stories storyboard or script mode and more in the 3.5.0 release.
What’s new:
- In-line editing of screenshot titles. After you capture a screenshot, quickly edit the title in the notification flyout. Don’t need to edit the title? No problem – the screenshot will be copied to your clipboard and saved to your project manager.
- Easily drag-and-drop images and videos to import them into your Stories storyboard or script.
What’s improved:
- When you use the quick share option (immediately after recording), your original recordings will be saved in your project manager for future editing and sharing.
What’s fixed:
- When users edited their overlay lines and arrows, the styles weren’t saved as expected.

Exciting News Easily toggle to a round webcam, preview Stories, and more!
You can now further personalize your videos with a circular webcam in the free screen recorder. Easily toggle between rectangle and circle webcam with the newer, more modern user interface.
What’s new:
- New webcam buttons to toggle between rectangle and circle, small (picture-in-picture), large, or hidden webcam.
- Free users can now preview the interactive storyboard editor, Stories. Create, edit, and preview your Story.
- You can now launch the tools from the tray experience (without requiring a login).
What’s improved:
- Microsoft was placing the ScreenPal folder in OneDrive by default, which led to some sync issues. We have updated the location of the ScreenPal folder, for more reliable access.
What’s fixed:
- Stock images are now added to your “Recent” images for easier overlays.
- Exported videos weren’t always taking their updated names. They now do!

What’s new:
- Scrolling screenshots beta: Capture scrolling windows and applications with our scrolling screenshots beta. Simply launch the tool and tap “Tab” to switch to scrolling screenshot mode.

- We’ve updated our connection with Vimeo.
- The “Connect” option no longer hides when you are viewing images in the project manager.

We’ve improved our experience for our free users! Free users can now access the project manager for a seamless experience. This makes it easier to see past projects, and import videos and images.
What’s new:
- The project manager is available to free users. Launch the screen recorder or screenshot tool, or import your videos and images for editing.
What’s fixed:
- A bug that caused the controls to disappear when recording on a second monitor with a different resolution than the main display

- We now detect and autoselect a camera when you launch the recorder for the first time.
- Small improvements to the permissions process on Mac.

- A bug that affected some users trying to import older “.somrec” files.
- We have updated the links to our new ScreenPal tutorials.

- We have improved the visibility of the audio waveform when you are editing. For instance, when you are using the Cut tool, you now have better visibility into parts of your video with audio. Thank you for your feedback on this!
- You can see the full name when you hover over a project thumbnail.

- Your camera style preferences will now be saved! If you make your webcam a circle, for instance, in the video editor, we will remember the setting next time you launch the recorder.
- We rotated the “import” icon, so it communicates “import” and not “download.”

- The timer no longer disappears after 10 minutes of recording in fullscreen mode.
- A bug that kept reverting “Mirror webcam” changes.

- An error that occurred when a video had over 1,000 sections in an SRT captions file.

Exciting News Bug fixes and minor improvements!
This release squashes a lot of bugs! (Thank you for all of your reporting!)
What’s improved:
- A little finesse to the styling, for instance, in right-clicking to see the Zoom menu.
- We updated the color palettes in our color picker to reflect the new-and-improved ScreenPal colors. You will see the new, brighter, colors when you add overlay shapes and text. (If you used colors in the older palette, have no fear, they should appear in your recent styles.)
What’s fixed:
- A bug that added stock audio to an entire project, versus a single story block.
- Bringing the color back to our visibility icons. (They were grey.)
- A string of code in our Microsoft Teams error dialogue that didn’t make sense to most humans. Whoops.
- A fancy ScreenPal icon for our users on Mac launching the screen recorder from the website.
- When you update the title of a video in the “Quick Share” dialogue, it now updates it in all places.
- We do a better job asking for permissions on Mac! For some users (on certain versions), ScreenPal didn’t ask permission to record until after you began recording. That wasn’t helpful.
- A bug that removed multiple audio sections in a storyboard, when users only meant to remove audio from the last section.
- Better messaging for people using our Zoom Cloud integration! (Zoom often takes time to process cloud recording, particularly for those marathon meetings and lectures!)
